Taman Wijaya Rasa Multi-Business Cooperative (KSU Kostajasa) again achieved proud achievements by maintaining certification Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for the fourth period.
This international award proves Kostajasa is committed to managing forests sustainably and responsibly.
In a thanksgiving event held at the Petanahan Hall of the Candisari Karanganyar Hotel on Monday (16/12/2024), the Chairman of Kostajasa Muarif Mahmud Suhada officially received an FSC certificate from the Regional Director of Southeast Asia SCS Global Services Todd Frank.
This event was attended by various related parties, including FSC Indonesia Marketing & Communication Manager Indra Setia Dewi, representatives of the Central Java Forestry Service Region VIII Branch, Head of the Kebumen KUKM Disperindag Haryono Wahyudi, representatives of the Kebumen LHKP Office, partners, and members of forest farmer groups (KTH) under the guidance of KSU Kostajasa.
"We are grateful for this achievement," said Untung Karnanto, Manager of Kostajasa. "FSC certification is not just an award, but also tangible proof that we have met international standards in forest management."
To obtain FSC certification, Kostajasa undergoes a very rigorous assessment process.
All aspects of activities, from social, forestry, to environmental, are thoroughly evaluated by independent auditors.
"Every five years, we have to go through this re-evaluation process," added Untung.
With the achievement of the fourth FSC certification, Kostajasa is increasingly optimistic in developing its business.
In addition to commercial timber such as teak, mahogany, and albasia, Kostajasa now also markets non-timber products such as coconut sugar.
The addition of this product is in line with Kostajasa efforts to increase the added value of community forests.
Chairman of Kostajasa Muarif Mahmud Suhada revealed that his party is targeting to add three new villages or KTH in the near future.
