Sales and Marketing Manager, Ivory Coast

Job Overview
The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for leading both inbound and outbound sales and marketing efforts for multiple programs directly managed by the SCS Ivory Coast office, while also supporting SCS Global program sales and marketing across the Africa region. This role plays a key part in driving revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives, client engagement, and market expansion.

The Sales and Marketing Manager will globally promote, sell, upsell, and cross-sell all programs within the department's portfolio across Africa, provide ongoing support to existing clients in these regions to ensure satisfaction and retention, and be accountable for achieving quarterly sales targets for programs operated from the SCS Ivory Coast office, as well as a personal sales goal covering all SCS Ivory Coast and SCS Global services. This position reports directly to the Country Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sales and Business

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities across Africa
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline through outreach at trade shows, industry events, cold calling, referrals, and inbound inquiries
  • Collaborate with HQ sales and marketing teams to develop and execute effective sales strategies, with a focus on outbound sales
  • Conduct market research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and competitors
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of industry contacts

Marketing and Promotion

  • Design and implement marketing campaigns to support sales goals
  • Ensure the development of relevant content, collateral, and promotional materials
  • Represent SCS at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings
  • Oversee the development of program sales collateral, website resources, and client support materials
  • Coordinate and support event planning, including booth setup and logistics

Client Engagement and Support

  • Develop a deep understanding of SCS services and certification processes to effectively communicate value to clients
  • Promote SCS Ivory Coast services to both prospective and existing clients
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations tailored to client needs
  • Recommend appropriate programs and services based on client analysis and technical knowledge
  • Provide high-quality support to ensure client satisfaction and retention

Sales Execution

  • Prequalify leads and maintain accurate records of all business opportunities
  • Negotiate pricing and terms of sale
  • Generate proposals and service agreements
  • Close sales to meet or exceed quarterly and personal sales targets

Record and Data Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in the internal system and databases
  • Submit work orders and change orders in accordance with program protocols

Planning, Development, and Reporting

  • Lead sales and marketing meetings, ensuring follow-up and documentation
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure client-friendly and competitive program delivery
  • Collect and report on sales forecasts and pipeline data during weekly meetings
  • Participate in company-wide and program-specific sales meetings to share insights and strategies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field and
  • 5+ years of experience in sales and marketing, preferably in a B2B or service-oriented environment and
  • Familiarity with the sustainable foods industry, ideally related to third-party certification
  • Proven track record in developing and executing marketing strategies, achieving revenue targets, and managing customer relationships
  • Strong knowledge of the African markets
  • Excellent technical writing and data management capabilities
  • Ability to complete time-sensitive projects and to provide realistic deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to switch tasks quickly and comfortably
  • Professional working experience with verbal and written fluency in French and English
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and database management systems
  • Proficiency in digital marketing and CRM tools
  • Initiative and ability to work independently; responsive and adaptive in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field
  • 5+ years of sales experience capacity within the food industry or third-party auditing services

Work Environment
Primarily in office work in Abidjan, 5 days per week with trips to client sites for administrative purposes

Estimated Net Annual Salary
$27,000 - $30,000
